Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara grew up in Barranquilla. Their mother, Margarita Vergara Davila de Vergara, works as a housewife. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo is her father. He supplies cattle to the meat business. Her siblings include five. The school she attended was a bilingual private school which offered Spanish and English. When she completed her dental school, Sofia began to work within the modeling and TV industry. But, Sofia was discovered by an amateur photographer while at the beach. This led to various jobs in modeling and television. When she turned 23 when she started modeling, she was discovered as a model. When she was in the United States, her travel show Fuera de serie, which she hosted from 1995-98 brought her to the public. Her first film role was in the crime comedy Big Trouble (2002). Her breakout role was Gloria Delgado in the American television series Modern Family (2009). Her Emmy nominations ranged from the period 2010 to 2013 for Outstanding Supporting Actress on a Comedy Series. Sofia lives with her son Manolo in Los Angeles.
